Founded in 2010, Carnegie Robotics has been focused on engineering and commercializing autonomous applications for large OEM’s and Defense Industries. Our goal from the start has been simple; research, develop, and produce industry leading autonomous solutions right here in the USA. |
In 2011, we proudly partnered with then President, Barack Obama on the National Robotics Initiative. In 2013, we moved into our current headquarters, previously occupied by the prevalent steel industry in Pittsburgh, passing the torch from old Pittsburgh to the new revitalized tech industry hub that Pittsburgh is today. In 2014, CRL was chosen by the U.S. Army to develop an autonomous mine detection system, SREHD. |
In 2015, we partnered with Uber to create Uber ATG, developing the first fully autonomous, on-road cars, and achieving over 1,000,000 miles of on-road autonomy. |
In 2016, we partnered with industry leader in floor cleaning, Nilfisk, to create the world’s first fully autonomous and safety certified floor care AMR. This partnership proved to be so successful that Thoro.ai was spun out of Carnegie Robotics. Thoro.ai is now the industry leader in fully safety certified autonomous AMR solutions. In 2019, we acquired Skeyes Unlimited Corp, which added deep sensor development and AMR controls to our robust IP portfolio. |
In 2020, we were selected by the U.S. government agency, DARPA, for the RACER program. In 2021, designed, developed, and manufactured a full system robot that is a critical component of what is the largest robotic commercial system in the world. In 2023, we surpassed 5,000,000 hours of autonomous robots in use. |

In 2024, CRL acquired Duro GNSS product line from Swift Navigation. |
