CMU spins out new robotics company

Pittsburgh Business Times, August 30, 2010.

CEO John Bares talks to the PBT about the mission of Carnegie Robotics as it spins out of Carnegie Mellon's National Robotics Engineering Center (NREC). "...Until now, the NREC has been playing match maker and connecting its customers to other companies that could commercialize the technology created at the university."

"CRL's goal is not to compete with the NREC, but to be an ideal commercialization partner...."

Initially our plan is to focus on robotics building blocks across a variety of customer needs — sensors, black boxes, positioning systems — used in many different applications.
