The MultiSense S7 is a high resolution, high accuracy, 3D sensor that delivers real-time vertical and horizontal field-of-view coverage along with color information for every range point. S7 is the first commercially available camera with fully integrated, on-board processing capability and automatic calibration. The S7 is capable of matching 11 million features per second, resulting in higher frame rates and more dense 3D range data. The S7’s GigE connectivity provides highly reliable, best-in-class performance. These characteristics are just some of the reasons why the S7 is currently deployed throughout a number of industries including defense, agriculture, mining, and heavy equipment; across a wide range of robotics, sensing, mapping, and automation applications.
The S7’s Semi-Global Stereo Matching algorithm transforms left and right camera images into 3D depth maps and point clouds and deliver them at frame rates as high as 30 fps. Carnegie Robotics’ state-of-the-art calibration process is the key that unlocks this transformation of pixel data into accurate range measurements while compensating for lens distortion, lens misalignment, and overall manufacturing tolerances.
The S7’s compact housing and rugged design provide protection from the harshest environments. Gorilla Glass by Corning windows provide protection from scratches and the effects of minor optical distortions. All MultiSense products are subjected to a series of rigorous tests including extreme vibration, hot/cold thermal cycling, and highly sensitive leak checks.

The MultiSense S7 Semi-Global Stereo Matching algorithm is able to identify over 11 million feature matches every second via ultra high-resolution imagery and with no more than one frame of latency.
Easy Data Options
The S7 delivers dense, full-frame range data at configurable frame rates via a 3D point cloud. These point clouds are processed and colorized on-board the S7, eliminating the need for additional equipment and adding to its ease of use. The ROS API streams point clouds, depth images, and RGB images in several common formats.
Carnegie Robotics’ ROS-based API enables the viewing of both live and 3D range data, the adjustments of camera and stereo parameters, calibration checking, log playback, and the changing of sensor IP addresses. Our open source C++ library and Gigabit Ethernet interfaces help to facilitate an easy integration of MultiSense S7 data into your existing systems.
