Senior Electrical Engineer

Carnegie Robotics builds custom robotics systems for government and industry.  We also manufacture and sell rugged robotics components that allow other organizations to develop their own robots.  We’re small enough to have many of the benefits of working for a startup, but we have a very broad customer base, making us more stable and recession-proof than most organizations our size.  We are developing and deploying cutting edge technology in robotics, perception, and machine learning.  Many of our development efforts go on to have real-world impact in robots that clean floors, find land mines, enable the development efforts of other organizations, and much more.  This is challenging, exciting work, and we are committed to building the company culture and diverse team that will allow our continued success.

 We are looking for an electrical engineering manager to coordinate a team of 5 to 7 engineers.  This job includes planning, and tracking technical effort, mentoring more junior engineers, working with the rest of the organization to grow the team as CRL continues to expand, making sure the team stays happy, and taking on technical work as other responsibilities permit.

What we’re looking for:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field (required)

  • Strong technical skills in circuit design and PCB layout (required)

  • Excellent interpersonal, team-building, and communication skills (required)

  • A positive attitude and great problem-solving skills (required)

  • Experience managing and tracking complex projects (preferred)

  • Experience leading and developing technical teams (preferred)

  • Experience designing for rugged environmental specifications, including thermal and EMI/EMC (preferred)

  • Experience with robotics (preferred)
